We’ve tested every organic growth channel, and no two behave alike. Some take a year to pay off, some pay off in a week and vanish in a day, and one is the only audience you will ever truly own. Here is how the seven compare.
| Channel | Best for | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| SEO | Biggest long-term returns | Hardest to start |
| Highest-intent audience | Needs real participation | |
| B2B and founder-led brands | Narrow audience | |
| X | Launches and building in public | Posts disappear after 24 hours |
| UGC / TikTok | B2C ROI | Needs a steady flow of creators and videos |
| Owned audience, best conversion | Slow to build | |
| YouTube / long-form video | Trust that compounds | Higher effort per piece |
1. SEO: hardest to start, biggest long-term returns
SEO is the slowest channel to get moving. You publish, wait, fix and publish again before anything shows up in your numbers. But it pays the most over the long term, because every page that ranks keeps sending traffic without costing you another rupee or dollar.
The data backs up the patience required. An Ahrefs study of 2 million keywords found that only 22% of pages ranking in the top 10 were created within the past year, and just 5.7% of newly published pages reached the top 10 within a year. 2. Reddit: the highest-intent channel
People search Reddit before they buy almost anything, so the person reading a thread is usually close to a decision. That makes Reddit the highest-intent channel we tested.
There is a second reason to care: LLMs are trained on Reddit conversations. Reuters reported in February 2024 that Reddit struck a deal to make its content available for training Google’s AI models, worth about $60 million a year. What gets said about your brand there can end up in AI answers later. To see how that connects to search, read our guides on writing content that AI tools actually quote and generative engine optimisation.
3. LinkedIn: best for B2B and founder-led brands
LinkedIn works best when you sell to businesses or when a founder is the face of the brand. Posts that earn good engagement stay in the feed for weeks, so one strong post keeps working long after you hit publish. Pair it with consistent content marketing so there is always something worth sharing.
4. X: best for launches and building in public
X is where launches and build-in-public updates travel fastest. The viral potential is higher than on LinkedIn, but the trade-off is shelf life. Research from the Technical University of Munich found that after 24 hours, about 95% of tweets get no relevant impressions, with a median half-life of roughly 80 minutes. Treat X as a channel for moments, not for a library.
5. UGC and TikTok: highest ROI for B2C
For consumer brands, UGC and TikTok gave us the best return. CPMs are low and the format is easy to scale: more creators and more videos mean more reach, without the production overhead of polished brand content. Our piece on influencer partnerships that last covers how to turn one-off creators into long-term partners, and the same videos can double as ad creative through our Meta ads management service.
6. Email: underrated, and the only channel you own
Email is the most underrated channel on the list. Every other platform can change its algorithm or your reach overnight; your list can’t be taken away. It takes time to build, but once it exists, it converts the best of anything we tested. Marketers agree: in Litmus’s survey of over 2,000 marketers, 77% said email is one of their two most effective channels. Email also works hardest alongside other performance marketing channels, because it turns first-time visitors into repeat buyers.
7. YouTube and long-form video: the highest-trust channel
No other channel builds trust like long-form video. People spend 20 to 30 minutes with a creator before they buy, and that time is hard to replicate with a post or a thread.
It also compounds like SEO: videos rank on Google and can be cited in Google’s AI features. BrightEdge data from May 2024 to September 2025 showed YouTube as the number one cited domain in both Google AI Overviews (29.5% share) and AI Mode (16.6%). How to choose
Pick by what you sell and how long you can wait. B2B and founder-led brands should lean on LinkedIn, B2C brands on UGC and TikTok, and launches on X. Underneath that, build the three channels that compound or last: SEO, YouTube and email. Reddit sits across all of them, because it catches people right before they buy.
